BHEL to foray into power generation biz

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) plans to develop power projects jointly with state entities, provided such joint venture companies source the main power plant equipment from BHEL. The move comes at a time when the government is planning to offload a 5 per cent stake in the state-run power plant equipment maker. Such joint ventures, while generating revenues and business for BHEL, would also generate business for other state run firms, who may operate as sub-contractors or  suppliers or vendors to these joint ventures.
