Bihar Government has identified 2,400 acre at Katoria in Banka district for the proposed 4,000 MW mega power plant project to be executed by the Union power ministry in association with CEA and Power Finance Corporation (PFC). The identified site for the coal-based power project is approved by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and the process for land acquisition would begin soon. Bihar will get 2,000 MW of power from the 4,000 MW generated at the plant. The remaining would go to central quota. The plant is likely to be commissioned in five to six years.
