Chennai's power supply to increase

Chennai is expected to receive more electricity in a few years with four high-capacity sub-stations being planned in the city. The sub-stations will be constructed at Korattur, Manali, Sholinganallur and Guindy. Out of the total project cost of Rs 5,000 crore, the Japanese International Cooperation Agency will provide financial assistance of Rs 3,500 crore and the rest will be offered by the Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation. Currently, the city and its neighbouring areas account for 3,000 MW and the figure is likely to go up in the coming years.
