The Ministry of Power has asked the coal ministry to provide adequate coal supplies to power projects on priority basis before going ahead with the e-auction. Both ministries decided to hold discussions to address the issue of acute coal shortage and ensure the supply of the dry fuel to power projects on a priority basis.
It is learnt that the coal secretary had assured that Coal India Ltd would be able to spare coal, provided the developer picked the dry fuel directly from the mine. Around 10 per cent of the total production of CIL is sold through an eauction.
