Goa receives 200 MW power from centre

The Union Ministry of Power has allocated 200 MW of energy to Goa from an ultra mega power project in Chhattisgarh, while other long-term measures are being worked out. To meet immediate requirements, the department is procuring 37 MW of power (central grid). As per projections by central agencies, Goa's energy needs will rise to 1,083 MW by 2016-17. The government had approved major infrastructure schemes at a cost of Rs 313.78 crore. Solar energy would be tapped to electrify Keri in Cotigao on the lines of Nadkem in the same area.
