HPGCL to import coal from Malaysia
Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd (HPGCL) will buy coal from Malaysia to overcome the recurring coal shortage faced by its thermal plants in the state. It has placed an order for 1.45 mn tonne of imported coal on PEC Ltd. The public sector company will supply the Indonesian coal for Khedar, Panipat and Yamunanagar thermal plants. The FOB cost of imported coal is between US $74.75 - $76.75 a tonne and the gross calorific value will be around 6,300 kcal. The minimum saving per tonne works out to be Rs 750.
