Krishnapatnam UMPP ready 8 months before schedule
ADAG (Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group) will commission its 4,000 MW Krishnapatnam ultra mega power project (UMPP) in Andhra Pradesh eight months ahead of schedule. This is because Reliance Power (RPL) has chosen a new configuration for the project by seeking Central Electricity Regulatory Commission's (CERC) approval. The configuration will be changed from 800 MW to 660 MW and RPL plans to use Chinese equipment. The Krishnapatnam UMPP project will supply power to key southern states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh as well as Maharashtra, which falls in the western region. RPL recently achieved financial closure for the project.
