Kudankulam power unit FINE EXAMPLE OF INDO-RUSSIAN PARTNERSHIP

The first unit of the Kudankulam nuclear plant was dedicated to the nation jointly by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin recently, with both calling it a fine example of special and privileged Indo-Russian strategic partnership. While stressing that the 1,000 MW unit was an important addition to India´s continuing efforts to scale up production of clean energy, Modi reportedly said that five more units of similar capacity each were planned at Kudankulam. At 1,000 MW, Kundankulam 1 is the largest single unit of electrical power in India. At Kudankulam alone, five more units of 1000 MW each are planned.
