L&T to invest Rs 25,000 cr for power

L&T Power, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), plans to have a generation capacity of 5,500 MW, including hydro power and is likely to invest about Rs 25,000 crore to build its thermal power business in the next five years. It would shortly tie up funds for the Rajpura project in Punjab. Works for two units of 660 MW each at Rajpura for the project have been started and the first unit will be commissioned by 2013.
