NTPC's plan to build a 500 MW plant in Sri Lanka has been been indefinitely delayed. This has been partly due to protests by Tamil Nadu against the Sri Lankan Government. The $500 mn power project was being set up as an equal JV between NTPC and Sri Lanka's Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) on a BOOT basis.
