Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) stated that the state aims to add 5,000 MW capacity to its power grid in the next two years, taking the total capacity to 14,374 MW by 2013-14. At present, the peak power demand is hovering at 5,000 MW, which translates into 1,000 lakh units a day. Also, Haryana has entered a new phase of augmenting and developing a power transmission system with the signing of the first ever transmission agreement in the country with viability gap funding support from the Central Government, that too in PPP mode.
