The government proposes to offer a lifeline to power projects languishing due to lack of fuel linkage. These projects will now be allowed to participate in the bids for supply of power to distribution utilities. The move is expected to provide immediate relief to 8,000 MW projects of Adani, Essar, Bajaj Hindustan, GMR Chhattisgarh and Monnet Ispat that are nearing completion but are without a firm long-term coal supply agreement with Coal India Ltd.
