PowerMin to set up Rs 50,000 cr fund for projects

The Ministry of Power plans to set up Rs 50,000 crore funds for financing projects. It may pull in Power Finance Corporation and Rural Electrification Corporation for the same. The fund is expected to be a debt fund and the proposal of setting it up is at a preliminary stage. The proposed fund is expected to finance various power generation, transmission, and distribution projects. It will also provide funds to smaller lending institutions or companies.
