R-Power aims to mine 20 mn tonne coal for Sasan project

Reliance Power expects to mine 20 mn tonne of coal every year from its Moher and Moher Amlohri blocks to feed its UMPP in Sasan, Madhya Pradesh. The coal block reserves are estimated at 600 mn tonne. The company plans to mine coal from the blocks by December 2012, ahead of the commissioning of the first of the 6x660 MW Sasan power plant in January 2013. The subsequent units will be commissioned in phases thereafter. R-Power was also given the Chhatrasal coal block for the Sasan project, but the block awaits environmental clearance as it falls under 'no-go area'.Contact: Reliance Power.
