The Centre has plans to obtain soft loans for its rooftop solar power projects. For this purpose, the Government is in talks with international funding institutions such as World Bank and KfW, the German government-owned development bank in Frankfurt. The Centre now aims to increase the power generation from solar energy sources to 100,000 MW in the next five years. Currently, negotiations are in progress to get soft loans of nearly Rs 8,000 crore with leading financial institutions. These funds will be exclusively utilised for developing rooftop solar projects in the country.
