WB plans to generate 180 MW solar power in two years

The West Bengal Government is planning to generate 180 MW of solar power in the next two years, an upgrade from the state current meagre contribution of 7 MW. For this, the state has identified 1,300 government buildings, schools and hospitals for setting-up solar panels. The target, projected to cost Rs 1,000 crore, is planned in two stages - 61 MW in 2016-17 and 120 MW in 2017-18.
