The West Bengal government has received a revised proposal for the development of Nayachar Island as an industrial hub. The island is situated off Haldia, in East Midnapore district. The project involves setting up a 2,000 MW thermal power plant, an industrial park and an eco-tourism project, involving a total investment of about Rs 26,000 crore.
