Capturing wind

Siemens' energy sector recently launched a new wind turbine for the Indian market. The SWT-2.3-113 (Direct Drive) is especially suitable for low wind regimes in India. With its large rotor and low rating, it allows the turbine to exploit predominantly low wind conditions. It also offers a full power Net Converter® for better power quality and grid stability. Siemens' Direct Drive technology provides a simple design with 50 per cent fewer parts and 70 per cent less moving parts, reducing mechanical complexity and the need for maintenance. Moreover, the revolutionary generator and optimised quantum blade are paired to extract maximum results even from moderate winds.
