29-km tunnel proposed in Shiradi Ghat

The Karnataka Government has proposed to construct a 29-km tunnel route through Shiradi Ghat, between Bengaluru and coastal Karnataka at a cost of Rs 10,000 crore. The project will be executed with financial assistance from the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA). The public works department will prepare a Detailed Project Report on the proposed tunnel route project. It also plans to concretise the entire ghat stretch.
