ABG Shipyard to acquire West African bauxite mines

ABG Shipyard, India’s leading private shipbuilder, is interested in acquiring bauxite mines in the West African country of Sierra Leone. The company plans to form a joint venture with Sierra Leone Exploration Mining Company (SLEMCO). The joint venture is likely to commence operations in the next five to seven months. An investment of about Rs 250 crore will be made for the first phase. SLEMCO is engaged in a large-scale mining and exploration operations in Sierra Leone with its offices based in the capital city of Freetown and the UK.
