Akai Energy India Ltd plans to set up a manufacturing base for Akai batteries in India during the second half of next financial year with an investment of Rs 250 crore. Akai would be available in nine states with a range of zinc chloride, alkaline, rechargeable and ready-to-use batteries in the first phase of launch. The company also plans to add light-emitting diode (LED) products and compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) to the product range in second and third quarters of the next financial year.
