Coal Min to renew privatisation plan
Union Coal Ministry has decided to renew the decade-old proposal of opening up the sector for private investors in order to boost production in the sector, which is witnessing stagnation in recent times. The move will help India to reduce its import dependence on coal. The ministry is building a detailed implementation plan to pursue the clearance of the Coal Mines (Nationalisation) Amendment Bill 2000, including a quarterly review of the progress on the proposal at the Joint Secretary level.
