India's biggest infrastructure project the Dedicated Freight Corridor' is being delayed due to re-tendering of contracts worth Rs 6,000 crore for civil works between Haryana and Gujarat in the Delhi-Mumbai leg of the project. The mega project worth Rs 77,000-crore aims to build new tracks to transport containers and commodities at speeds of 100 km per hour, reducing travel time by one-third in India and create an opportunity for one of the world's largest freight operations by adopting international technologies. The 1,490 km western freight corridor is being funded by the Japan International Cooperating Agency (JICA), a Japanese lending agency.Contact: The Dedicated Freight Corridor.Tel: 011-2345 4890.
