Federation of Indian Minerals and Industries (FIMI), the body that looks after the needs of the local mining industry in the country, welcomed the Supreme Court’s ruling that allowed the auction of 1.5 mn tonne of iron ore a month. This auction is expected to increase iron ore supply in the country and may enable steel companies to increase production. Steel production suffered a massive blow after Supreme Court banned iron ore mining in Bellary.
