Goa receives 200 MW power from centre

The Union Ministry of Power has allocated 200 MW of energy to Goa from an ultra mega power project in Chhattisgarh. For meeting immediate requirements, the department is procuring 37 MW of power. As per projections by central agencies, Goa's energy needs will rise to 1,083 MW by 2016-17.
The government had approved major infrastructure schemes at a cost of Rs 313.78 crore. The government has also collected electricity duty from consumers and routed it to a separate fund for infrastructure needs.
