Government to set up 30 mega food processing parks

The Union Government is setting up 30 mega food processing parks, with at least one in each state, in two phases. In the first phase, 10 parks would come up at an estimated investment of Rs 1,500 crore. The first such park is under construction at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh and is expected to be ready by December 2010. The other locations include Dharmapuri (Tamil Nadu), Ranchi, Haridwar (Uttaranchal) and Guwahati.
