IWAI to transport coal to Assam

A company engaged in the development and regulation of inland waterways for shipping and navigation; Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), is planning to transport coal to Assam by the river route on a big scale. NTPC wants about 1 mn tonne of imported coal transported annually to meet the requirements of its Bongaigaon thermal plant. The coal is to be unloaded from barges at Jogigopa for onward movement by road to Bongaigaon thermal plant.
