An Inter-ministerial task force would be set up to undertake a comprehensive review of existing coal sources and rationalisation of these sources with a view to optimising transportation cost given various technical constraints. The task force will consider all the cases in power, cement and steel and sponge iron sectors where the consumers are already getting coal. It will present its report within 3 months of its constitution and have members from major nodal ministries like power, steel, department of industrial policy and promotion, railways and PSUs.
