JSW Steel has prepared a plan to increase its overall steel capacity to 40 mn tonne per annum by 2025 in order to retain its market share of 13-14 per cent. Acknowledging the countrys enormous potential for steel consumption, the Government of India has set a target of 300 mn tonne capacity by 2025 from the current level of around 105 mn tonne. This will require huge investments to the tune of $200 bn in about a decade.
