The government has decided to form a committee chaired by the additional secretary, to look into the captive coal blocks lying idle with steel and power companies. The government had issued notices to 82 firms last year and sought their responses as to why coal blocks allocated to them should not be withdrawn, when they had failed to develop them in the stipulated period.
