SAIL scales up the value chain

Steel Authority of India (SAIL) expects the share of value-added products to rise up to 55 per cent of its total saleable steel production in the next two years from the current 39 per cent through its Rs 70,000 crore modernisation programme.
The proposed expansion and modernisation programme will be completed by 2013. The new cold rolling complex at Bokaro Steel Plant will boost the share of value added products, which will target the auto and white goods’ sectors.
