Tata Power to raise mining capacity
Tata Power Co Ltd plans to increase its coal mining capacity in Indonesia in the second half of fiscal 2011. The capacity is likely to be increased to 75 mtpa from the current 60 mtpa.
The company owns 30 per cent stakes in two Indonesian coal mines of PT Bumi Resources, purchased in June 2007. It imports 3 mtpa of coal for its plant in Trombay, Mumbai, 1 mn tonne of which comes from the Bumi coal fields. Tata Power also plans to increase its power generation capacity from an annual 3,000 MW to 4,242 MW in 2011 and further to 5,842 MW in 2012.
