B'luru to have high-rises

Karnataka Government plans to introduce a policy to facilitate vertical instead of horizontal development in Bengaluru. It has selectively allowed higher FSI, or development rights, to take advantage of new infrastructure being made available. This was pushed by the Bangalore Development Authority as it plans to develop five new layouts on 5,000 acre. The planning agency has already issued a final notification for one layout. The government will explore the feasibility of the vertical development policy which will allow private developers to build taller buildings. This is crucial for Bengaluru in order to accommodate its rapidly in-creasing population.
