DDA (Delhi Development Authority) plans to rehabilitate around 8,000 slum dwellers in A-14 Kalkaji area in the multi-storeyed buildings that will be constructed in an adjoining open area. The authority plans to float tenders for hiring consultants for this purpose. The Kalkaji project will be developed in two phases with each building having 15-16 floors. Vertical growth is being encouraged in such projects. Besides this, the authority will also hire a consultant to study in situ rehabilitation of about 20 slum clusters in the capital.
