Eager to capitalise on the upswing of the IT sector, construction companies are keen to win orders to build campuses for expansion of IT firms and data centres for MNCs. For instance, Microsoft plans to build three local data centres for about Rs 1,400 crore in Mumbai, Pune and Chennai. One of the largest third-party data centre operators, Netmagic, is building a 280,000 sq ft data centre in Mumbai and is exploring options to build another in NCR. The company is also eyeing Gujarat, Hyderabad and Pune as potential sites.
