Premier Inn, part of the UK-based Whitbread PLC, plans to add 1,000 rooms in India by 2016-17. The company is looking at expanding to secondary cities. It currently has three properties with 347 rooms in India with four additional properties in the pipeline by 2016-17. The brand, catering to the mid-scale market segment, is looking at expanding in Tier-II and Tier-III cities through JVs, partnerships and third party management contracts.
