TN to build Rs 3,500 cr township

The Tamil Nadu government entered into an agreement with a Singapore-based developer Ascendas and a Japanese consortium to promote a Rs 3,500 crore industrial township near Chennai. Plans are on to set up a business support centre to facilitate Japanese investments into the state. The 1,500 acre township is to come up on the Old Mahabalipuram Road, to the South of Chennai. It is expected to be developed over five years with a manufacturing zone, commercial, residential, and institutional as well as social infrastructure facilities.
