Tarun Kumar, Sales Manager (India, Africa, Middle East), Erkat

Here is a company with a solution to minimise downtime on a job site. Primarily used for the cutting of rocks, asphalt, concrete, or any other nonmetallic surface, Erkat's rotary drum cutter can be applied as an alternate in areas where drilling and blasting are barred. Talking more on this product and its offering for the Indian market is Tarun Kumar, Sales Manager (India, Africa, Middle East), Erkat, in conversation with SHRIYAL SETHUMADHAVAN.

What is your product's USP?
Erkat's biggest USP is that it offers just one product - the drum cutter machine. We have a service person in India and offer our customers a complete service package from installations, training, etc.

Is your offering customised for the Indian market?
If there is a requirement for a special job, we do design and customise the machine to suit our customer's requirement. For example, three to four years ago, we did a job for the Delhi airport where the requirement was very specific - to cut a drench for cable on the airport tarmac.

What kind of training do you offer?
We go to the customer's site and train the operator in terms of how to use the machine for best performance. This training continues for a couple of days until our customer is satisfied.

In terms of generating business, how can an expo like bC India help you?
In India, our market share may be close to 90 per cent. Our aim is not to generate business in such an expo. However, such exhibitions give us an opportunity to showcase what we have on offer for India.
