Top Projects - Rajasthan

Rajasthan, known for its rich heritage, sand dunes and wildlife, has attracted heavy investments from real estate, power and infrastructure segments in the recent years. Today, it is considered among the most promising destinations in the country.

Real Estate

Dinesh Kumar Lila, Proprietor, Agarwal Real Estates says, "Almost, all the cities in the state are now emerging as potential locations for investment." Places such as Jaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner, Bhiwadi, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Kota, Sri Ganganagar, Udaipur and Neemrana are currently hot from the real estate perspective. Jaipur, being the favourite spot for development, has now transformed into an IT hub. This has increased the need for commercial and residential spaces in the pink city. Among the various IT projects are Vatika Infotech City, World Trade Park, Crystal Mall, Mahindra World City and others.

Power

Of late, the state has made significant progress in the power sector with the private sector increasingly participating in the development. The state's emphasis in the renewables arena is on wind, solar, biomass and thermal energy. According to the Bureau of Investment Promotion (BIP), Rajasthan is keen on tapping biomass energy. The state government has even issued 'Policy for Promoting Generation of Electricity from Biomass 2010' for encouraging investments in the sector.

Upcoming projects

Welspun Energy has commissioned Asia's largest solar power project in Jodhpur. The company had earlier started a 15 MW solar generation unit at the site and now plans to install two more units of 15 MW and 20 MW. The entire 50 MW solar project will be developed in three phases and the project will generate total electricity of 90 million kWh annually.

Raj West Power, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JSW Energy, has plans to implement a 8X135 MW lignite-based thermal power plant in the Barmer district. The plant will use lignite for fuel from the Jalipa and Kapurdi mines.

Infrastructure

The development of mega infrastructure projects such as the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) will witness many positive developments in the state. The alignment of DFC will pass through Phulera, Ajmer and Marwar regions in Rajasthan. About 39 per cent of the corridor will pass through the state, creating new opportunities for local companies. In the case of DMIC, around 60 per cent of the project will be constructed in the state including Jaipur, Alwar, Kota and Bhilwara. It will provide a high-quality environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure for new investors.
