7,000 km of highways to be awarded by June 2010

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, has lowered the target for awarding national highway contracts to 7,000 km by June from the earlier target of 12,000 km. During mid-2009, Kamal Nath formulated a work plan to award contracts for building about 12,000 km highways by March, 2010, this deadline was later revised to June.
