Ahmedabad and Surat are the first two airports that will be considered to be alleviated to an international level by Airports Authority India (AAI). This activity is part of AAI´s efforts to attract more international airlines and enhance its connectivity. Ahmedabad airport is among the six airports that will be privatised by the Central Government.
