Many firms have shown interest in modernizing and operating new airport projects and privatising four airports in Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Jaipur on a revenue-sharing basis. As per this financial model, the airport operators will share over 30 to 40 per cent of their revenue with the Airports Authority of India (AAI). AAI has begun the process of floating the request for qualification (RFQ), to which eight firms, including Adani Ports, GMR Airports, GVK Group, etc, have responded.
