The much-awaited all-weather Gopalpur port in Ganjam district of Odisha is expected to be operational for cargo handling from October with a single berth. Other ancillary infrastructural work of the port is also expected to end in a month. Dredging of sea near the port is also in full swing. In the next two years, two more berths are expected to start cargo handing. As per the plan, Gopalpur port in the long run will have 16 berths for cargo handling.
