Assam improves its rural road network

Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, the Union Government has decided to relax norms for Assam so that it can benefit from constructing rural roads. According to the PMGSY programme, habitations with a population of more than 500 will be taken up for connectivity. The ministry plans to change the criteria for Assam under the PMGSY programme so that it can connect around 3,000 habitations and lead to construction of an additional 2,500 km of roads.
