Bids for road sector in FY12

Invitation of bids for new road projects by the NHAI has again gained mom-entum since December, after a lull from July to November 2010. A host of issues, including provisioning of land, structural and procedural hurdles, lack of fiscal incentives and non-availability of easy finance to developers were hindering the progress of the ambitious NHDP. Approximately 5,000 km of road construction has been awarded in FY11. This translates into approximately 14 km per day.
