CCEA approves broad guage line between Gevra Road and Pendra Road
Govt to boost rail infrastructure for coal transportation The government plans to boost rail infrastructure in order to transport coal from mines to power plants and other end-use destinations. In this regard, the Union Cabinet would consider a plan to to lay new railway lines between Gevra Road and Pendra Road in Chhattisgarh and Raigad (Mand Coliery) to Bhupdeopur in Chhattisgarh. It would set up two other rail links to connect coalfields-- one connecting the North Karanpura coalfield in Jharkhand and the other connecting the IB valley Coal Field in Odisha.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the construction of a new broad gauge line between 121.70 km Gevra Road and Pendra Road at a cost of Rs.838.02 crore. The project is likely to be completed in the next five years during the Thirteenth Plan period.
