Cabinet nods for locomotive units

The Railway Ministry has sought the Cabinet approval for its Rs 29,000 crore project to manufacture diesel and electric locomotives at Mahowra and Madhepura in Bihar on a joint venture basis. Madhepura unit would build 120 Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBT)-based electric locomotives of 12,000 HP per annum and Mahowra unit would manufacture 130 diesel locomotive units per annum.
