Cargo volume falls at Chennai airport

Cargo volume at Chennai airport has dipped for the first time in the last 10 years. In 2011-12, there was an 8.14 per cent dip in cargo volume to 3.57 lakh tonne compared to 3.88 lakh tonne the previous year. The airport attributes this drop to global economic slowdown, poor demand and the consistent dollar appreciation.
