Chennai Port allotted Rs 100 cr

The Shipping Ministry has allocated Rs 100 crore to the Chennai Port Trust to procure about 125 acre from the Tamil Nadu Government on a long-term lease. This is to set up a dry port and multi-modal logistics hub near Sriperumbudur SEZ. The port trust intends to procure land from the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT).

The port will be developed on a build-operate and transfer basis. The private operator will build and operate the facility for a 30-year license period.
