Chennai marine highway receives poor bid

Chennai marine highway project bids have been unyielding with poor response from private operators despite repeated extension of bid submission for the estimated Rs 5.60 crore project. The highway would transport containers on barges between Chennai and Ennore ports, and its development for a lease period of 10 years has been repeatedly extended from March 2014. Earlier, Union shipping minister Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone for a Rs 1,270 crore container terminal project at Ennore port, to be developed by Adani Ports.
